SHARJAH: Air Arabia said it will expand its European network with a new daily, non-stop route between Sharjah International Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport, with flights scheduled to begin on July 1, 2026. The carrier said the service will provide direct connections between Sharjah, its main hub, and Italy’s capital, adding another option for travelers moving between the UAE and Rome. Air Arabia announced the route on Feb. 26, 2026, and said bookings are now open across its sales channels.

The airline published a split schedule across the week, with morning departures from Sharjah on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and afternoon departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flight G9 0668 is set to leave Sharjah at 7:55 a.m. and arrive in Rome at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while return flight G9 0669 is scheduled to depart Rome at 1:35 p.m. and land in Sharjah at 9:40 p.m. on those days, all local times.

On Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, Air Arabia said flight G9 0662 will depart Sharjah at 4:20 p.m. and arrive in Rome at 9:00 p.m., with the return flight G9 0663 leaving Rome at 10:00 p.m. and arriving in Sharjah at 6:05 a.m. the following day. The carrier said the route will be operated using an Airbus A320neo aircraft. Air Arabia also described the service as daily and non-stop, linking Sharjah directly with Rome’s main international airport.

Italy link from Sharjah

Air Arabia said Rome will become its second destination in Italy from Sharjah, after Milan Bergamo. The airline has been adding European routes and destinations from Sharjah as it grows its international network, and it has recently announced or launched additional services including Munich, Prague and Warsaw Modlin. The carrier operates as a low-cost airline and uses Sharjah as its primary base for scheduled passenger flights, with the Rome service adding another major European city to its destination map.

Aeroporti di Roma, the operator of Rome’s airports, said the new route will strengthen connectivity between Rome and the Arabian Peninsula and broaden travel options for passengers flying between Italy and the Gulf. The airport operator said the addition supports wider links with the region and highlighted Rome Fiumicino’s standing among international hubs, noting that the airport holds a Skytrax 5-star rating. Air Arabia said the route will connect Sharjah and Rome with daily frequencies throughout the week under the published timetable.

Booking details

Air Arabia said customers can purchase tickets through the airline’s website, its call center and travel agencies. The carrier said the service is scheduled to start on July 1, 2026, and will operate every day, with flight timings varying by day of week as listed in its published schedule. The airline’s flight numbers for the route are G9 0668 and G9 0662 from Sharjah to Rome, and G9 0669 and G9 0663 from Rome to Sharjah, with the late-evening Rome departure arriving in Sharjah the next morning.

The planned Sharjah–Rome operation adds another direct air link between the UAE and Italy using Sharjah International  Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport as endpoints, according to the airline’s announcement. Air Arabia said the daily non-stop flights will begin on July 1, 2026, and will be operated with the Airbus A320neo under the published weekly schedule. – By Content Syndication Services.
